Taxation in Georgia: Overview
Concept of taxation is very actual subject in nowadays world economy and many developed countries that are supposed to have a good tax codes and legislation still try to improve them to meet certain trends leading to further integration of many various economies of world, and developing best tax strategies to ease the tax burden.
Complexity of taxation system of many countries and especially the countries of former Soviet Union – presently Commonwealth of Independent Countries- is a big constraint in the countries economic management. Georgia is not an exception to this widespread idea.
In Georgia everyone from government ministers to the common citizen is equally flummoxed as to know what the government wants to do. Does it want to build hospitals, provide a better education system, and build its defenses or what? Nobody knows. Thus, it seems rather premature to start tinkering with your tax system before you have a clear idea of where you are going and what your public policy is.
